The Difference Between Sadaqah and Zakat

Assalaamu Alaikum,

In Pakistan, 2022 brought many challenges including the devastating floods, the fallout from the global economic turmoil and the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, we continued to provide world-class treatment to our cancer patients, and I want to thank the countless donors and supporters who help us to continue to provide free treatment to 75% of our patients. Today, I remain more confident than ever that you will enable us to open our third hospital in Karachi at the end of 2023.

On a personal note, recently, I had cause to be treated myself at the hospital in Lahore. Even at this difficult time, I could not fail to be impressed by the professionalism and dedication of all the staff. I felt so proud that we have all contributed to the creation of these centres of excellence, and I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who cared not only for me, but for the many patients that we see and treat each year.

I urge you to donate generously and bring hope to the many thousands of cancer patients, in 2023, through the hospitals of the Shaukat Khanum Healthcare System.

With warmest personal regards,

Imran Khan

About Sadaqah

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was the most generous of people and he was even more generous in Ramadan.”

About Sadaqah

Imran Khan Cancer Appeal

Imran Khan made history in 1994 when he founded Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, the first comprehensive healthcare facility of its kind in Pakistan. Last year, thanks to the generosity of our donors, our hospital achieved another remarkable milestone, becoming the second organisation in the world to receive system-wide JCI Enterprise Accreditation.

As 75% of our patients continue to receive free treatment every year, our goal to ensure that no one is denied access to cancer care because of where they are from or what they earn remains steadfast. We remain grateful for your trust and support, as we look forward to the inauguration of our third and largest hospital in Karachi in December. Ramadan Mubarak. May Allah (SWT) bless you with good health, peace, and prosperity in this holy month.

Give Sadaqah Jariyah to our Karachi Hospital

The Difference Between Sadaqah and Zakat

About Sadaqah

“When a man dies, his good deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah [ceaseless charity]; a knowledge which [he has passed on and] is beneficial; or a virtuous descendant who prays for him.”

(Bukhari)

About Sadaqah

Feed a cancer patient with your Sadaqah

The Difference Between Sadaqah and Zakat

About Sadaqah

“The best of you are those who feed others.”

(Ahmad)

About Sadaqah

Many of the patients who qualify for free cancer care at our hospital are malnourished even before they begin treatment. To give them the best chance of survival, we must provide them with the essential vitamins and nutrients they need for their therapy. Can you help us feed a cancer patient this Ramadan?

A small Sadaqah donation of £50 can feed a patient for 10 days. By donating £150, you can share your iftar with a patient for the entire month.

About Sadaqah

“When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.”

(Bukhari)

About Sadaqah

Ahsan began treatment for Soft Tissue Sarcoma at Shaukat Khanum Lahore last July. Without your support, his mother would not be able to continue his care.

Sponsoring the treatment of a child patient, like Ahsan, can save a life. But Ahsan’s chances of survival depend on so many factors.

By giving Zakat to ‘where most needed’ this Ramadan you will be giving us the flexibility to allocate our resources where they can have the most impact.
